Internal committee, annual report, awareness programmes and display of policy: a short guide.
Who must comply
Any employer with ten or more employees must constitute an Internal Committee. Smaller workplaces fall under the district-level Local Committee.
The core obligations
Constitute the committee with a senior woman presiding officer and an external member, publish the policy, run periodic awareness sessions and file the annual report with the district officer.
Common gaps
Expired committee tenures, missing external members and no records of awareness sessions are the issues we see most during compliance reviews.
